Following recent increases in the number of daily cases, the Chilean government has kept the border open, but has now added some stricter measures for all arrivals to the country.
ALL travelers, including Chileans, foreign residents, accredited diplomats, and tourists, must now complete an obligatory 10-day quarantine upon their arrival in Chile.
* It’s possible to leave the quarantine early with a negative PCR result based on a test taken on or after the 7th day in quarantine. Travelers must remain in quarantine while they await their result.
Arrivals are able to elect their own location for their quarantine, which they must declare at customs on arrival along with their mode of transport to the location. They will then receive daily emails asking them to confirm their location and a survey on symptoms and other factors.
In addition, travelers of all ages need to present *three documents* when boarding their flight to Chile:
-
Proof of a negative result from a PCR result from a test taken within 72 hours prior to boarding their final flight to Chile. (Note: the 72-hour time period begins from the time the test is administered – not from when the test results are returned)
-
A completed ‘Sanitary Passport’ electronic form, which is available at www.c19.cl and should be completed less than 48 hours before boarding
-
Proof of a health insurance policy that covers for Covid-19 and related health issues covering the duration of the traveler’s stay in Chile, with a coverage of USD $30,000 (minimum). All documents must be presented before boarding the flight to Chile.
