Vaccinated foreigners will be able to enter Chile on October 1, 2021, and will no longer be required to undergo mandatory quarantine at a hotel, making it easier for your production in Chile to go ahead.
The length of the mandatory quarantine will also be reduced to just five days for vaccinated travellers who have had their vaccine validated online via Chile’s Ministry of Health (www.mevacuno.gob.cl).
With the scrapping of quarantine hotels, as of October 1, 2021, it will be possible to carry out the five-day mandatory quarantine in any home, airbnb, hotel or other abode of the traveller’s choice.
Here’s a guide to entry requirements for foreigners effective October 1, 2021
Foreigners who wish to visit the country must first validate their full vaccine program on the website www.mevacuno.gob.cl, a process that could take up to a month, so authorities recommended not booking prior to this validation.
Entry will only be permitted to foreigners through Santiago’s main international airport Arturo Merino Benítez (SCL), or the regional airports of Iquique or Antofagasta.
Before travelling, visitors will have to file a health declaration through the website www.c19.cl, at least 48 hours before boarding. Along with this, they will be required to present a negative PCR up to 72 hours before departure and have health insurance with minimum coverage of UDS 30,000. Upon entering the country, they must make the mandatory isolation of five days at an address of their choosing.
The authorities have stressed the importance of responsible isolation during the five-day quarantine.
After clearing sanitary controls at the airport, travellers must take private transport directly from the airport to their declared address in the country, with no possibility for an overnight stay en route to their declared quarantine destination. They should refrain from interacting with any other people at the declared address during their isolation period.
Throughout this isolation period, the Mobility Pass will be blocked for travelers and will be monitored by the Home Isolation Control (CAD) program, which is part of the Testing, Traceability and Isolation strategy, which conducts more than 8,000 daily checks on people in quarantine, in person and via email. Chilean authorities warned there are punishments for people failing to comply with the isolation period, as well as for people who are not declared as cohabitants at the traveller’s address, which can include permanent confiscation of the mobility pass.
As long as your crew are willing to come and comply with the isolation rules, your film production can go ahead in Chile.
